Home Project #2 // DIY Barn Table

It's been a little over a month in our new home and things are starting to come together! After our first project in our rental upstairs, we finally got started on our own living space! The most important thing to Evan and I is having space to entertain, so we started with our dining room. We hated the bright orange color and we absolutely loathed our table. We went antiquing and store to store looking for a table that could fit into this new room. We fell in love with a rustic barn table at Pottery Barn but the $2,000 price tag was way out of budget. So we designed, distressed and built our own at an extremely affordable price. We also toned down the walls with Sherwin Williams Aesthetic White & Functional Gray. Here is the before and after...

We still have a ways to go with decorating and finishing the building of the benches, but it will come together with time. We're just excited to have the room re-painted and a new table that seats at least 8 people. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to add to this room? I have a couple ideas, but I would love to hear your thoughts as well!

Happy Weekend!

  2. Words cannot describe how jealous I am of your table! The entire room is coming along beautifully! If it were my place, I'd put in a big pretty plant and a beautiful photograph on the wall inside an oversized mat and frame. Now…time to sneak around and see more photos of your new case!

    1. Thanks Danie! That table was so easy and affordable to make. We added a couple more things last weekend like a mirror, plant, lantern, and pops of color like lemons on the table! It's so exciting to see it all come together. I have all the intentions to paint an abstract piece for the wall but that might take me some time to plan it out. I over think way too much. haha
